Princess among Paupers II

I awake the next morning tired and ready to go back to bed, but of course I can not. Such is the way of princesses. We must sacrifice ourselves for the good of the kingdom. It is not a small responsibility. However, it fails to daunt me. I am a Martin girl, a Perkins girl I shall not fail them.

I get ready. If I have time I will break my fast, but usually I don't. Then I get into my carriage and begin the journey from my personal rooms to the palace. Depending on which week of the year it is, I meet with different tutors. On this day, I am to meet with my World Literature, Business, Health and Government tutors. Whilst with my (handsome) World Literature tutor, I am summoned by the head mistress. She is a woman of the most immense nature. I am bid to sit in her waiting rooms by her clerk while she prepares to see me. While I wait, I meet a noble lady by the name of Lauren. She is about my height with brown hair and glasses. Her appearance strikes me as awkward, but it doesn't bother me in the least. I don't know much of her or her house, as she is a recent acquaintance. I met her because we have the same Anatomy tutor. Lack of information aside, I do enjoy her company as she delights in witty comments and often makes some of her own. Both of us were laughing and in walks Lady Sara H. I haven't really talked to her since the days of our shared History tutor both last year and the year before. She is delightfully humorous and quite intelligent.

I meet with the head mistress, and she tells me that within a fortnight, I am to change tutors. It was nothing new, but I suppose she simply had to tell me firsthand.

I am sent back to my World Literature tutor to continue my day. With my business tutor, we are supposed to learn how to start and keep afloat our own ventures to make money. Of course, I use the knowledge to help with statecraft. I have learned, that a country is only a larger non-taxable business and I would do well to treat it that way. I have also learned to not tell a king (especially a tudor) that he can do whatever he wants... but I digress. My tutor pairs us with a small group and tells us that only a few of us will survive a disaster and we must choose which ones. I know I will have to take charge because these lazy dullards could barely keep wake for a presentation on prophesy and the end of the world. I won't push too hard to survive in the scenario. It is my duty as Princess to ensure that my people live on, even if it is without me.

Skipping forward to my last tutor of the day.

My government tutor is perhaps a great and pleasant surprise. He is frightfully tall , and according to his facial hair is a red head. He is from Montana and seems to take pleasure in rodeos. His pants are also a tad tight. His view are liberal, and while I may not agree with them he is very outspoken about them and for that I must give my respect. A while back, he split us into males and females and told us to run a campaign. Our candidate Lady Brandy, is simply top notch. We have named our group the United Chicks Of Government. The males have named theirs the National Association of Dudes or NADS. At the end of their advertisements they always say GO NADS, how dreadful. One of their ads claimed Brandy to be pregnant. Scandalous! Poor Brandy, one could see steam coming from her ears. We'll get them back. It taught me a very important lesson. Politics is a dirty business that is fought not with fists, but with words and those can be the most dangerous.

I left the palace to enter the chamber of yet another tutor, my piano tutor. She is quite exasperated with me and my obvious lack of practice. Oh well, I suppose I shall have to one day.

Princess among Paupers I

This is, and isn't reality. But for some reason I don't care.

I am seventeen years old in my last year of highschool. In all this time I've realized something that others don't. I am a Princess. Other people needn't believe me. I am not so insecure that I need them to. As long as I know it. All of us have been sent to the same school. There we've been subjected to so many cruel and unusual experiments, its a wonder any of us are still capable of coherent though. But school, is not a place we come, learn and leave. Many of us feel like we live there. Wandering up and down the halls as one would their own house. For this reason I shall name my school a palace, no the palace.

This is my reality.

There are more than four thousand people who visit the palace. Some of the courtiers others are scholars and still some are nothing but peasants who are the offspring off ambitious houses. As their princess it is my job to love and socialize all of them. Its damn near impossible, but I do try. Courtiers surround me. They eat with me and chatter filling up my days with laughs and jokes. I don't trust many of them. On of them whom I do trust is Sarah. I know beyond a doubt that I can always trust her. No matter what. We've known each other for about four years ever since I was brought to the palace. Since then she has never ceased to make my life more interesting than anybody else inside this dratted palace could. Which brings me to another topic. Nicky. She is and always has been my best friend. Even before the palace. Unfortunately, she moved to another country, Louisiana. We only see each other when the opportunity shows it self.

When I am not fooling around with my courtiers, I am with my tutors in the subjects of Statistics, World Literature and Anatomy. Of course, I have many more, but those are the important ones. We sit before them in the mornings and afternoons learning about various concepts that will aide in our futures. It's all quite tedious, but I do what I must. I always do what I must. After my last tutor of the day, I am free to spend the rest of the day as I please. Sometimes, I get into my carriage and ride to my personal rooms. Other times, I go with Sarah and a couple of other courtiers to practice the dance. The dance is most complex set of movements where one is loose and free. A master and a mistress teach this dance, but they aren't too dedicated to teaching us. At least that's how it seems. Still other times, I meet with some commoners to discuss matters of business and other such topics.

When I arrive at my personal rooms I'm greeted by my sister, my parents and my dog. I usually take a nap before my parents get home. When I wake, I then decide how much of my homework I will complete. I do it, and then frolic until true night comes and I must retire.
